Housebrain is built on trust. We collect only what we need to make your home smarter, and we never sell your data.

1. Who we are

Housebrain is a home management application operated by Nick Noble, based in Westport, Connecticut. Questions about this policy can be sent to privacy@housebrain.app.

2. What we collect

Personal information

• Email address and name (when you sign up)
• Profile handle and avatar
• Google account info (if you sign in with Google)

Home data

• Your home address
• Property details from public records (ATTOM Data Solutions)
• Rooms, appliances, and systems you document
• Photos you take within the app
• Maintenance history and service records
• Project and quote information

Usage data

• Chat conversations with Housebrain AI
• Features you use and how often
• Device type and browser
• App performance data

Third-party integrations (if connected)

• Gmail: email subjects and content from home-related emails only
• Other smart home services you connect

3. How we use your data

To provide the service

• Power your AI home assistant
• Generate personalized insights
• Send maintenance reminders and alerts
• Display property and weather information

To improve Housebrain

• Understand which features are most useful
• Fix bugs and improve performance
• Improve our AI models — only with your explicit permission

We never

• Sell your personal data to third parties
• Share your home data with advertisers
• Use your data to profile you for purposes unrelated to home management

4. AI and your data

Housebrain uses Claude (by Anthropic) to power our AI assistant. Your conversations are processed to generate responses and are not used to train Anthropic's AI models.

We use Google Gemini to identify appliances from photos you take. Images are processed and not stored by Google beyond the immediate request.

You can control whether your data is used to improve Housebrain's own AI features in Settings → Privacy.

6. Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely in the United States using Supabase, which is SOC 2 Type II certified. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest. Your password is never stored in plain text.

We retain your data as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is permanently removed within 30 days.

7. Your rights and controls

You have full control over your data:

• Access: View all your data in the app or request a full export
• Correct: Update your information in Settings at any time
• Delete: Delete your account and all associated data in Settings → Account
• Export: Download a copy of all your data in Settings → Privacy
• Opt out: Control how your data is used in Settings → Privacy

California residents have additional rights under CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to request deletion.

8. Children's privacy

Housebrain is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@housebrain.app.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Housebrain after changes constitutes acceptance.
